Miners girls soccer finds out playoff opponent The Miners girls soccer squad found out their second round playoff opponent in Cedar Thursday night. Cedar defeated Dixie 1-0 at home in the first round to advance and face Park City. The Miners will host the Cedar game Tuesday at 4 p.m., at Quinn’s Junction. Park City sits two wins away from a return to the state semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. If the Miners win, they’d likely set up a state finals rematch with Green Canyon. Park City also faced Cedar in the second round last year and won 3-1 at home. The state finals will be held Oct. 25, again at Zions Bank Stadium. Miners girls tennis tied for state tournament lead as of FridayThe Miners girls tennis squad was tied for the lead at the 4A state tournament as of midday Friday, with a team points total of seven. Park City shared the lead with Crimson Cliffs, Desert Hills, Green Canyon, Hillcrest, Provo, Ridgeline and Timpanogos, with the tournament running through Saturday. All of the Miners five entries (three singles and two doubles) were still alive and set to play Friday morning, with scores yet to be reported. First doubles team Agi Salazar and Abigail Bailey, and second doubles team Charlotte Hansen and Mackenzie Saladyga, each recorded first round wins Thursday. Park City went 5-1 in matches this season, also finishing second at the regional championships to Hillcrest. The Miners finished the 2023 state tournament with 18 team points, with Green Canyon winning with 52. Miners girls volleyball wins one, losses two games ThursdayThe Miners girls volleyball squad won one and lost two games Thursday. The team defeated Syracuse three sets to none, fell to Jordan three sets to none and fell to Skyline three sets to two. Park City is now 15-6 overall and 8-1 in regional action, with four games remaining in their regular season, including a Friday-night matchup with Mountain View. The Miners will return home for their regular season finale and senior night game with Hillcrest Oct. 22. The playoff brackets will be revealed Oct. 23, with first-round action starting Oct. 26. Wasatch football defeats Cedar Valley Thursday nightThe Wasatch football squad defeated Cedar Valley 27-17 Thursday night on the road. Wasatch climbed out to a 20-10 halftime lead against Cedar Valley, which they held onto in the second half, with each team scoring a touchdown. Thursday’s game concluded Wasatch’s regular season, with the team finishing 2-7 overall and 1-4 in region. Wasatch awaits their playoff fate, with the playoff bracket will be revealed next Saturday. Wasatch will be hoping to secure one of the 24 spots in the 5A bracket, which has first-round play scheduled to begin Oct. 25. Woodward hosting Red Bull Rampage watch party SaturdayWoodward Park City will be hosting a Red Bull Rampage watch party Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The park will display the event on their big screen. Saturday will feature the top mountain biking freeriders on the some of the world’s most-challenging terrain in Virgin, four-and-a-half hours south. Podium spots and the Red Bull Rampage trophy will be handed out at the event, which can also be viewed on ESPN+. For the first time, female riders took to the competition Thursday.
