Memberships give Park City Museum patrons a piece of the town’s history. Not only are they 100% tax deductible, they allow access to private events such as membership parties and exclusive historic hikes. They also provide newsletters and other fun and informative benefits, said Alyssa Woodall, Park City Museum development manager.“All memberships also include four free guest passes whenever they visit the museum, even if you visit 100 times a year,” she said. The museum assures accessibility through different membership levels, according to Woodall.“We have four — Individual, Friends and Family, Museum Guild and Charter memberships,” she said. These benefits, provided below by the Park City Museum, are:Individual memberships cost $55 a year. And they include: Free year-round admission to the Museum for four at any time 10% discount on unique Museum Store merchandise A quarterly e-newsletter highlighting upcoming events, new exhibits, lectures, hikes, parties, dinners and updates Two complimentary tickets to the museum’s annual Dungeon (Membership) Party Invitation to march with the museum’s float in the annual Miner’s Day Parade Invitation to members-only summer hikes in and around Park City Opportunities to meet new friends and enjoy celebrating Park City historyFriends and Family, the next level, is $100 a year, and its benefits are the same as Individual memberships, but for a whole family:Free year-round admission to the Museum for four at any time 10% discount on unique Museum Store merchandise A quarterly e-newsletter highlighting upcoming events, new exhibits, lectures, hikes, parties, dinners and updates Two complimentary tickets to the museum’s annual Dungeon (Membership) Party Invitation to march with the museum’s float in the annual Miner’s Day Parade Invitation to members-only summer hikes in and around Park City Opportunities to meet new friends and enjoy celebrating Park City historyMuseum Guild memberships are $350 a year, and that will get members the following: All of the Friends and Family Membership benefits      PlusInvitations to two exclusive Museum Guild cocktail receptions each year that are hosted in local private homes, catered by a top restaurateur. These gatherings provide opportunities to make new friends and socialize with local residents and second homeowners. Priority seating up-front for two adults at all of the museum’s popular History Speaks Lecture seriesCharter Member, the final level, is $2,000 a year with these benefits:All of the Friends and Family Membership benefits All of the Museum Guild benefits      PlusAn invitation to join the Board of Trustees at their annual barbecue hosted by the Board President That warm feeling in your heart that you have truly made a difference“Our most popular membership is Friends and Family, but those who purchase the Museum Guild and Charter memberships do get invited to guild events — private parties we host twice a year — like cocktail receptions held at board members’ homes or another museum member’s home,” Woodall said. “We try to mix things up every year.”Memberships can also be purchased as Gifts, Woodall said.“You can purchase any of the above memberships, and the recipients will receive a gift card and letter naming you as the gift giver,” she said. There are different ways to purchase memberships, according to Woodall.“They can stop by the museum gift store, and the store staff can process memberships,” she said. “They can also call me directly or call the store staff, or they can visit parkcityhistory.org and purchase a membership online.”Memberships run a full year, starting the day of purchase, and there are different ways to renew, Woodall said.“When people purchase memberships online, they are automatically set up for renewal,” she said. “That way there’s no issue and people don’t need to worry.”Woodall will personally send renewal reminders via email to those who purchased memberships at the store or over the phone.“The emails go out the month before and the month of renewal,” she said. “I will also send out an email a month after renewal is due if they have not renewed. One of the things people told me when I started working here was more time and information for memberships. So that’s one thing I’m trying to do.”While members enjoy membership benefits, the Park City Historical Society, which oversees the museum, also reaps membership rewards, Woodall said.“They are pretty much donations, and a part of our annual budget comes from memberships,” she said. “The money helps us maintain our permanent exhibits — the jail is a major hit with families — bring in traveling exhibits and provide school outreach, among other things. My office overlooks the permanent exhibit, and I can hear people talk about the exhibits and laugh. So that’s been great.”Park City Museum memberships are currently at an all-time high, Woodall said.“We recently surpassed 600 households, and we’re still growing,” she said. “That’s exciting for our staff and board. We want to expand, and let more people in the community know what we offer.” For information about Park City Museum memberships, visit parkcityhistory.org/membership.The post Museum memberships preserve Park City’s history appeared first on Park Record.
