FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said it will be performing work on various bridges in the coming week, some of which will involve closures. There will be overnight sweeping and scupper cleaning on the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Fall River and Somerset on Oct. 15, Oct. 16, and Oct. 17 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. MassDOT said there will be rolling roadblocks on Route 6 eastbound and westbound, from mile marker 11.0 to mile marker 11.6, on oct. 15, as well as lane and shoulder closures in the same area the following two days. There will be sweeping and scupper cleaning on the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge and adjacent bridges on Oct. 15 and Oct. 17 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be controlled by the use of rolling roadblocks, on Route 6 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 27.6 to mile marker 28.4, as well as lane and shoulder closures as needed. MassDOT said that overnight sweeping will occur on the Braga Bridge on Oct. 15 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Rolling roadblocks on Interstate 195 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 10.5 to mile marker 12.0 will be in place. Repairs to the Interstate 95 northbound and southbound bridge over Newport Avenue in Attleboro will occur on Oct. 15 from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. MassDOT said the work will occur nightly Sunday through Thursday through the winter. Lane closures on Newport Avenue northbound and southbound will be in place.  Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.       More information on traffic conditions and road work can be found on Mass511.
