The event will be held on Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Earlywine Park. Dogtober Festival will open up with a shelter dog walk and continue with a variety of activities that are free to the public. Activities included are yoga with puppies, live music, trick-or-treating for children, arts and crafts, face painting, pet agility demonstrations and a pet costume contest. GREAT STATE: Oklahoma’s fastest bulldog invited to a race to determine the fastest in the U.S. Food trucks will also be available throughout the event. Local pet supply vendors will also be in attendance and offering an array of merchandise. Just because the name has 'dog' in it doesn't mean the felines are forgotten. Cat adoption fees will also be waived at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter for one day on October 19. OKC Animal Welfare encourages those who can't attend the event to consider providing a forever home to its current sheltered pets by either adopting or fostering. The shelters adoptable animals are all spayed or neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on their vaccinations. Those looking for a new furry friend can visit the OKC Animal Welfare from Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. to meet adoptable animals and hopefully, your next pet.
