According to Memphis Police, around midnight Thursday, the victim was sitting in his car when a man approached him with a handgun and demanded his keys and car.
An hour later, Memphis police found the stolen Toyota on Linden Ave with three people inside.
Gary is held on a $150,000 bond, Alston is held on a $110,000 bond, and Nelson is held on a $75,000 bond. They face several charges including Carjacking and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
A woman we spoke with said she recently moved to Memphis from California. She says she is learning crime is everywhere.
“I am aware that it is around and unfortunately I am learning to expect that,” said the woman.
She believes the only way to tackle the problem is to tackle those feeling hopeless.
“It seems to be mostly a problem with young men, and how do you get a group of young men to have a sense that they have a future that feels good to them? So, I think it takes the community working together," she said.
