What a wonderful night for viewing the northern lights last night! Skies were clear and we enjoyed a great display! Thank you to everyone who sent in their pictures of the vivid colors in the sky! Northern lights around northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio We have been enjoying a more summer-like day today, with temperatures climbing as high as the lower 80s in some parts of the area during the afternoon. You can thus look forward to a warm evening for high school football, as more clouds gradually build into the area. It will be a nice and warm evening for high school football! We'll be partly cloudy then overnight, with low temperatures dropping into the low-to-mid 50s. If you're looking for the northern lights again tonight, you might be able to see a glow on the horizon, but confidence in this occurring is low and you'll have to contend with the clouds. Do not expect a grand northern lights display tonight. In fact, you will be lucky to see anything at all.Clouds increase into tonight.Low temperatures drop down into the 50s. Look for partly cloudy skies to continue to kick off the weekend, with high temperatures reaching the low-to-mid 70s. There is the slight chance for a rain shower as the day goes on Saturday, but better chances will hold off until Saturday night. This is when a frontal boundary sets up shop in our area, allowing for showers and even a few thunderstorms to move through overnight into daybreak Sunday. Low temperatures will fall only into the mid-50s as our Sunday gets underway. A slight rain chance is in play on Saturday.Highs vary across the area Saturday, with Fort Wayne seeing a high of 73°.Better rain chances arrive Saturday evening.Showers and a few storms are possible still Saturday night.Most of the precipitation wraps up by daybreak Sunday. Some additional showers remain possible later Sunday into Sunday night. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s to wrap up the weekend. By early next week, the coldest air of the season arrives, as we finally really start to feel like fall around here. Look for highs in the 50s from Monday through Wednesday. Low temperatures will also dip into the 30s, so we'll be on the lookout for frost. By late next week, temperatures will rebound and we'll track the return of the 70s by the weekend.
