(NBC) — The second season premiere of the mystery drama “The Irrational” airs Friday on NBC. Series star Jesse L. Martin talked about how Season 1 wrapped up and what is in store to start the new season. Martin revealed he gets to explore whole new areas of human conduct. Outlook for fall weather, and how much snow Ohio could see “I really enjoyed these things coming out of my brain and out of my mouth, that the writers are putting them there,” said Martin. “It felt like I'm working at the most capacity I have, and it feels fantastic.” Martin's character, Professor Alec Mercer, lends his expertise to authorities working on high-stakes cases. Still, at last season's end, he solved the 20-year-old church bombing that left him physically and emotionally scarred. “What does that do to your identity?” said Martin. “Does it release you in some way, or do you miss it? And I daresay, in irrational behavior world, people in trauma miss that part of their identity.” As the new season begins, Mercer's got more pressing concerns, his new girlfriend Rose, a former MI-6 agent, was kidnapped in the closing moments of Season 1.
