(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Memorial Park is celebrating its ribbon cutting for a few new additions to the park on Saturday morning, Oct. 12. The park downtown will unveil newly resurfaced courts with a Colorado Springs-inspired mural, new backboards, upgraded hoops, and new player benches. The renovation was made possible due to the efforts of Hillside Connection and a grant from Every Court Has A Story. The City said the renovated courts will not only create a better experience to play basketball but also create a welcoming and safe space for all participants. Before and after of the basketball court: "I am incredibly grateful to Hillside Connection for their commitment to our community and dedication to promoting youth development through sports,” said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. “These renovated courts offer an exciting space for community engagement and friendly competition in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs – Olympic City USA. These improvements will enhance the playing experience and also create a welcoming and safe environment for people of all ages to enjoy.”  The ribbon cutting will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m.
