WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A 16-year-old Wichita boy who was critically injured in a shooting on Wednesday has died. The shooting happened just after 8 a.m. in the 9100 block of E. Harry.
Wichita police say the boy passed away this morning. The 46-year-old mother was arrested after police alleged that she shot him. Police say the charges against her are being amended to include second-degree murder.
"This is a tragic incident that has forever altered a family," Chief Joseph Sullivan said in a statement. "Gun violence impacts our entire community and cannot be tolerated."

Police will present the facts of the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office for formal charges. KSN News does not name a suspect until they are formally charged.
