RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- "Spooky season" is upon us, bringing the return of spook-tastic events throughout the Richmond area. Here's a list of festivals, races, performances, tours and more where attendees can experience frights and delights galore! 🚌Richmond: Halloween Light Tours on the "spooky bus"🚌 Tours will run from Friday, Oct. 18 through Wednesday, Oct. 30, with spots limited. Attendees will be able to enjoy the following: Seeing the spookiest and biggest displays throughout the city A customizable route; if you have specific homes to see or pit stops to make, you can let organizers know so that your route can be customized. Bringing their beverages on board Pick-up and drop-off is included anywhere within Richmond city limits In addition to those private tours, public tours will be held at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 26. 🎃Richmond: Capital Trail 10-mile and 5k race🎃 Want to celebrate the spooky season while getting active? A 10-mile and 5k race will be held in the morning on Saturday, Oct. 26 along the Capital Trail, hosted by the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation and Dominion Energy. Participants will get a Race Day t-shirt with a spooky design. A pre-run will also be held in the morning where attendees can wear a costume and have a chance at winning a prize. For more information, visit the run's webpage. 🎵Richmond: Poe Museum's Creature Feature Halloween UnHappy Hour🎵 From 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, attendees can join a performance by The Embalmers while sipping on brews from Triple Crossing at the Poe Museum. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes for the theme "Creature Feature," and the best dressed will win a free ticket to the museum's Birthday Bash in January. For more information and to grab your tickets, visit the museum's website. 🛼Richmond: Halloween Skate Party at Roller Dome🛼 On Sunday, Oct. 20, Roller Dome will host its Halloween Skate Party, which includes a Rainbow Roll and costume contest. A portion of admission sales will be donated to the VA Pride Hot Spot Drag Show, hosted by Stacy Max, with special guests Zoe Vuitton and Crystal Cryptid. DJoey will be providing the tunes throughout the event. The event is sober and family-friendly. For more information, visit the roller skating rink's Facebook page. 🦇Hanover County: Halloween Haunt at King's Dominion🦇 On select nights through Nov. 3, attendees will be able to meander through Kings Dominion in the Doswell area of Hanover County, exploring haunted houses, scare zones and haunted mazes. Popular rides will be open at night, and visitors can also enjoy spooky live shows as well as seasonal drinks and eats. Kings Dominion advises that Halloween Haunt is too intense for young children, advising parental discretion. For more information and a list of Halloween Haunt nights, visit Kings Dominion's website. 👻Hanover County: Terror on the Farm at Ashland Berry Farm👻 From 7 to 10 p.m. on select dates through Saturday, Nov. 2, Ashland Berry Farm will host Terror on the Farm, where attendees will walk throughout the Booger Woods, Reapers Revenge 3D, Clown Rehab and Phobia Manor haunts. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the farm's website. 🍺Hanover County: Off the Rails Craft Beer Festival: Brews, Boos and BBQ🍺 At the Hanover Arts and Activities Center from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, visitors can enjoy local craft beers or wine and barbecue on the lawn along the town's historic railroad tracks. A horror costume contest will also be held, and winners will be crowned for scariest costume and best film-inspired costume, with prizes from Red Vein Escape and Ashland Theatre. Live music will be performed by Buckville Hootenanny. To grab your tickets and learn more information, visit the center's website. 🍬Henrico County: Lakeside Halloween Market🍬 Want a more laid-back feel where you can peruse local goodies at your own pace? From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Lakeside Farmer's Market, more than 30 local makers will be selling goodies and crafts. The event is free to attend, and a food truck and drinks will be available while attendees shop. In addition, trick-or-treating will be held for the kids, as well as a crafts workshop for all ages, and pumpkin carving and decorating. Costumes are encouraged. For more information about the event, visit its event page on Facebook. 🌙Chesterfield County: Things That Go Bump in the Night, Tour Through Henricus Historical Park🌙 Looking to learn more about history while getting thoroughly spooked? Beginning at 7 p.m. on both Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26, visitors can take a guided tour through Henricus Historical Park in the dark as interpreters demonstrate and perform old English folklore stories of witches, ghosts and goblins. Attendees will learn about spooky and mysterious tales shared by colonial Virginians in the state's early history. Tours may not be appropriate for children under age 9, according to organizers. For more information and to grab tickets, click here. 🕷️Chesterfield County: Spooky Sundays at Pocahontas State Park 🕷️ Those looking to embrace the spooky season while immersed in nature can head to Pocahontas State Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays throughout October. Attendees will learn about stereotypically spooky creatures in nature, and learn that the may not be as creepy or crawly as they seem. Each Sunday will feature a new critter: Oct. 13: Frightening Fungi, where attendees will learn about how the creepies and crawlies actually act as essential insectivores and decomposers that keep the balance of ecosystems in check. Oct. 20: Ominous Osteology, where visitors can get a peak inside the life of mammals from learning about their skeletal system. Oct. 27: Bewitching Bats, where attendees will learn about local bats and how to support their populations during International Bat Week. For more information, visit the Department of Conservation and Recreation's website, call 804-796-4472 or email [email protected]. 🌲Powhatan County: Time Travel to the Cemetery at Powhatan State Park🌲 For another spooky event held in nature, visitors can spend their morning at Powhatan State Park from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on both Sunday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 27. During the event, attendees will uncover the mysteries of those at rest in the park's historic cemetery. Visitors will walk by the farm fields where those who are buried once lived and worked. A main focus of the event will be the life, death and headstone of Alpheus Hudson. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes, as the walk to the cemetery is a little over half a mile, totaling about one mile of walking.
