EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — A man from East Bridgewater was arrested on child pornography charges after an organization titled Bikers Against Predators tipped off police. According to officials, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, East Bridgewater Police received a call from a woman in Indiana who identified herself as an employee of an organization called Bikers Against Predators. Police said that members of that organization were also at a house on Central Street in East Bridgewater, speaking to a man whom they alleged to be having inappropriate contact with minors online. 21-year-old Jason Giles of East Bridgewater was identified by police. An investigation revealed that another third-party group that was proactively engaged in online undercover chats posing as minors to expose child predators had made contact with the alleged suspect on Facebook Messenger. According to officials, the suspect was under the impression that he was speaking with a juvenile girl. Police said the third-party group then contacted Bikers Against Predators, who then learned Giles’ identity and located him in East Bridgewater. According to their website, Bikers Against Predators is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “expose online predators to help spread awareness and education to as many citizens as possible while having these predators face justice for their crimes.” Giles was charged with possession of child pornography, disseminating obscene matter to a minor, enticing a child under 16, and posing/exhibit a child in a sexual act. Giles was arrested and booked at the East Bridgewater Police Department and held on $500,000 bail pending his arraignment. Categories: News
