BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A mobile veterinary clinic driven by Massachusetts-based veterinary staff is headed south to help out in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. MSPCA-Angell sent several staff members to North Carolina Friday after they stopped off in Pennsylvania to pick up the vehicle. “There are many needs in North Carolina right now—from getting animals veterinary care to bringing some out-of-state to find new homes to getting supplies to those stuck in their homes—and through our Natural Disaster Relief program, we’re able to help with it all,” said Mike Keiley, vice president of the MSPCA-Angell’s Animal Protection Division. Two veterinarians, two vet techs and a community outreach member loaded into the vehicle Friday for the collaboration with several North Carolina animal shelters. Emergency licenses were granted to the veterinarians by North Carolina. They will start at Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue before heading to Yancey County Humane Society. MSPCA-Angell is also on standby to assist with veterinary care in the wake of Milton, and also took in 16 cats from Pasco County Animal Services in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. MSPCA-Angell will also be holding a fee-waived adoption event called Muttster Mash: An Adoption Smash! The event will take place at the following facilities: Boston Adoption Center: Tuesday – Sunday, noon – 3 p.m. MSPCA at Nevins Farm: Tuesday – Sunday, noon – 4:30 p.m. Cape Cod Adoption Center: Tuesday – Sunday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Northeast Animal Shelter: Daily, 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Categories: Massachusetts, News
