ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — If you've taken the train out of South Attleboro this month, you may have noticed you don't need to pay to park. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced that parking will be free at the South Attleboro Commuter Rail Station through April 1, 2025. Normally, parking costs $6 per day. State leaders said the goal is to get more people to ride the train. BACKGROUND: South Attleboro train station reopens after 3 years The South Attleboro station reopened on May 20 for the first time in three years. The station had been closed since February 2021 when it was determined that the pedestrian bridge was unsafe and beyond repair. The station is now running on a limited train schedule, with three inbound trips each morning and three outbound trips every evening. Riders can find the full commuter rail schedule online.
