Older men's connections often wither when they're on their own

There are more older men living alone than there were in 2000, a trend fueled by expanding lifespans and higher divorce rates. In some ways, they are disadvantaged compared with older women in similar circumstances. Research shows men tend to have fewer friends, are less inclined to make new friends and are reluctant to ask for help.
