MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- One person was left critically injured after a home was struck by dozens of bullets during a drive-by overnight in South Memphis. Around 1:40 a.m., officers say they responded to the 1100 block of Wellington Street regarding a shooting and an aggravated assault involving firearms being discharged. When officers made it to the scene, they found a victim laid out in the doorway of the home suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim stated a white truck pulled up in front of the home and fired shots. Man arrested after road rage shooting in East Memphis The victim was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. Two other victims were also in the home during the time of the shooting but were not injured, police say. The security door was shattered due to defects consistent with bullet strikes on the outside of the home and inside the interior of the wall. Police also say they found 48 bullet holes, bullet casings, live rounds in the street, and bullet fragments outside the residence on the front porch and door frame. "It sounded like they were beating drums," she said. "Once I get to the door, it's like I could hear something skeeting off. Last year, October, the same day, it happened last year on the same day."
