We hope you enjoyed the ample Northern Lights viewing last night or early this morning across Central Indiana! Thanks to everyone who sent in some great pictures. Courtesy: Our own Angela Ganote (North Salem, IN) Friday will be even warmer compared to the last couple of days. It will also continue the longest sunny stretch of the year so far. Through yesterday, the Indianapolis International Airport had five days of 100% sunshine. That stretch will likely hit six days with forecast highs near 80° and more sunshine. The weekend will also start warm with highs near 80° once again on Saturday. However, a cold front will pass through late Saturday into early Sunday and will try to spawn a few showers in its wake. It will have a tough time doing so thanks to the drier airmass in place. I won't rule out a stray shower late Saturday or early Sunday but most, if not all of Central Indiana will remain dry through this period. In the wake of the cold front passage, Central Indiana will see its coolest air so far this fall season. Highs will struggle to hit 60° and lows will be in the 30s in spots. This gives our region the first chance of some frost formation, especially away from Indy proper. The average first day of frost for the Circle City is October 12th, so this is right on cue with normal. This will be the story temporarily for a few days next week. We look to have temperatures moderate back into the upper 60s to near 70° by the end of next work week.
