WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — When you come to the fair, you think about a lot of things. You think about the midway and the games, but who can come to the fair without thinking about food? At this year's Carolina Classic Fair, chef Brandon Cassidy runs the Food Freaks food truck, the name of which came from Cassidy's daughter."My very first item was Apple Rings. And when I was designing those 14 years ago, my daughter said that this is really freaky food. And the name Food Freaks is born," he said.Food Freaks is best known for its burgers."So we're known for our burgers. The most popular one out here has been, like, our house burger, which is also the most popular one on the streets. I have the Oklahoma burger, which is a smashed-out burger, smashed it with onions, and we make a homemade drill sauce, which is a dill honey mustard sauce. Actually, a customer challenged me to make that burger because he had it, and so I duplicated it and made it. But we also have one that's kind of been the most popular one of this year's The Dirty South Burger," Cassidy said. You can find Food Freaks through the weekend at the Carolina Classic Fair in Winston-Salem. They're just to the right if you enter at Gate 1. You can also find Food Freaks on Facebook where they post where they'll be throughout the year.
