BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Walker (5-1) travels to district rival St. Amant (2-3) for a big time showdown in 5-5A at the "Pit" Friday night. Just a year ago, the Wildcats only loss in district play came against the Gators in a thriller, 31-28. Walker scored 21 4th quarter points, but couldn't find the endzone on the final drive of the ballgame, as the Gators walked away with the win. District 5-5A ended in a three way tie at the top between St. Amant, Walker, and Denham Springs. Walker will look to avenge their loss from last year, but it won't be an easy feat, especially traveling to a hostile environment like the Pit. Someone who knows it all too well is Walker head coach Chad Mahaffey. What We Learned: LSU football is ‘Wide Receiver University,’ college football is wild "Cannons are going off, gators are getting killed, and all that stuff is happening," said Coach Mahaffey. "You've got to be able to calm down amidst all that fire and action and just get back to what you've been trained to do. I think playing with poise on the road and particularly in that environment which really I am fortunate enough even as a player, back in the old days to play I mean, it's a fun place to play, it's not a fun place to lose though."
