Person of interest released in shooting that wounded 8yearold boy inside Ashburn home

A person of interest was released without charges after an 8-year-old boy was shot and wounded Thursday inside a home in the Ashburn neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side.About 5:50 p.m., the boy was inside the residence in the 3800 block of West 87th Street when someone he knew opened fire, striking the boy in his chest, Chicago police said.The boy was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in fair condition, police said.A firearm was found at the scene, police said. A person of interest was taken into custody and was released without being charged.Detectives continue to investigate.
