FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A man was arrested in Fall River on Tuesday after officials said he threw items at police officers.
On Oct. 8 around 10:50 p.m., officers responded to an address on Lawton Street in response to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, police said they located 34-year-old Yukeny Fletcher, who was bleeding from his arm after an apparent argument where he reportedly punched several pieces of glass with his bare hands, resulting in injuries to his hand/arm.
Fletcher allegedly refused to allow officers and EMS to assess his injuries.
Police said Fletcher allegedly began to threaten officers, and eventually began throwing items at the officers as they attempted to deescalate the situation.
Officials said one of the officers was struck in the arm when Fletcher threw a rug and a mop at him.
Fletcher was eventually taken into custody and transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of his wounds.
He was later taken into custody by the Rhode Island State Police due to the fact that he was in their jurisdiction for medical attention.
According to officials, The Fall River Police will be seeking extradition as a fugitive from justice.
