The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Board of Economic Development approved two loans at this month’s meeting (Oct. 9, 2024). Smack Holdings USA, LLC, operating as Smack Pet Food, a Canadian manufacturer of premium raw dehydrated pet food, will establish its first U.S. location in Aberdeen. The company received approval for a $1 million REDI (Rural Economic Development Initiative) loan and a $1.5 million SD Works loan. The funds will support the renovation of the former Banner Engineering building, which is expected to create about 158 full-time jobs and have a significant economic impact on the state.
