North Carolina charged with abuse after dog found dead with other starving pets

WENDELL, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wake County man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say they found him with four malnourished pets and a dead dog.
According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to assist Wake County Animal Control with a report of an alleged animal cruelty case in the 4000 block of Edgemont Road near Wendell.

When deputies arrived at the property, they said they located three malnourished dogs, a malnourished cat, and a deceased dog. Animal Control removed the animals from the property.
31-year-old Floyd Tarail Meeks III was arrested at the scene. He is charged with killing an animal by starvation and cruelty to animals, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies did not say if Meeks owned the property where the animals were found but confirmed the animals were his pets.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. No additional information is available, as of Thursday evening.
