Laketran is hosting an in-person hiring event from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 15 in Lakeland Community College’s H-Building, at 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland, with immediate interviews guaranteed to all applicants. The transit agency aims to hire up to 16 part-time bus drivers to operate its Dial-a-Ride service that primarily transports seniors and people with disabilities around Lake County. Driver positions start as part time, with promotion opportunities to full time, officials confirmed, noting a valid driver’s license is required for an interview. Applicants must be available for a six-week training class that begins Nov. 12 and work shifts anytime during Laketran’s hours of operations. No commercial driver’s license is required, the agency noted, but applicants must pass a background check, drug test and an Ohio Department of Transportation physical.
