ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Gateways Music Fall Festival returns to the Eastman School of Music next week.
The annual event celebrates Black classical musicians from all over the country. Throughout the week, more than 100 accomplished musicians will showcase the extraordinary stories, and artistic achievements of Black musicians.
The festival kicks off Monday, October 14 with "The Young Musicians Institute." It's a chance for young string players to explore music during a day long workshop that culminates with a performance at 6:00 p.m.
This year, the festival culminates with the only all-Black professional brass quintet in the country, performing at 7:00 p.m. Friday. There will also be a special movie screening Thursday evening.
