A student with serious injuries was taken to a hospital and one person was arrested after a stabbing at a San Marcos high school Wednesday, according to sheriff’s officials. The incident was reported around 3:30 p.m. at Mission Hills High School on Mission Court Road, sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Ehrlich said. While deputies were on their way, a school resource officer was able to find the injured student on school grounds and take him to the nurse’s office. The student was then rushed to a hospital, Ehrlich said. He is expected to survive his injuries. The school was put under a temporary lockdown while deputies worked to clear the scene of any further threat, Ehrlich said. Investigators received information about the alleged assailant and arrested him at his home within a few minutes, officials said. The lockdown was lifted soon after. In a statement sent to parents Wednesday, district officials informed parents of the lockdown and described the incident as an altercation between two students. They said they could not immediately release more information, citing student privacy laws and that the investigation is ongoing. “We were in immediate contact with our law enforcement partners who have now taken over the investigation into what transpired,” the district statement read. “As our law enforcement partners release information regarding this incident, we will reach back out and share further details with you at that time.”
