MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man who was allegedly driving under the influence and driving speeds over 100 mph on Highway 99 in Merced County has been arrested, the California Highway Patrol said on Thursday. CHP says a few days ago their graveyard shift responded to a 911 call about a possible DUI driver on Highway 99. According to CHP, thanks to the call of the concerned caller, officers were able to locate the vehicle. CHP says he was traveling over 100 mph. The driver provided false information about his identity, according to CHP. CHP says he was initially determined to be under the influence following a DUI investigation. The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI, false impersonation speeding and having an excessive blood alcohol content.
