Fresno's nationwide search for a new police chief has begun

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The City of Fresno announced Thursday that a firm has been selected start the nationwide search for the next Chief of the Fresno Police Department.
The firm “Public Sector Search and Consulting” will begin the search immediately, according to the city. The search comes after Chief Paco Balderrama’s resignation in June. Deputy Chief Mindy Casto is serving as interim chief.

The city added that it wanted input from the community through a survey and/or by participating in one of four virtual community meetings.
The dates and times of the online meetings will be:
Friday, Oct. 18, 11:30 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7:00 p.m.

The city says a link to the community survey will be launched next week in four different languages.
Sworn and non-sworn employees at the police department will have the opportunity to complete a separate survey.
