TOPEKA (KSNT) - A woman was injured in an apartment fire Thursday in north Topeka. Topeka firefighters were at the scene of an apartment fire that was first reported just before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the 2200 block of Northwest Polk Street. Fire crews responding to the call found a woman at the apartment who was initially being treated for serious injuries. City of Topeka spokeswoman Rosie Nichols said at 3:50 p.m. on Oct. 10 the cause of the fire was found to be accidental and caused by flammable materials left too close to an open flame.
