A look at some of Friday’s top high school football games involving teams from the East Metro and western Wisconsin: St. Agnes (4-2) at St. Croix Lutheran (5-1), 7 p.m. Two smaller school powers in the area square off, with the winner grabbing a bit of key confidence in its upcoming pursuit of a state tournament bid. Both defenses have been solid this season, and it will be interesting to see which one can tame the other’s potent offense. OUR PICK: St. Agnes 24, St. Croix Lutheran 20 Eagan (4-2) at Forest Lake (4-2), 7 p.m. Two likely No. 2 seeds in the Class 6A state tournament bracket get to gauge themselves against one another late in the regular season. Seeing which run-heavy team can control the line of scrimmage in this one will serve as another piece of key evidence when prognosticating the football to come in the next month. OUR PICK: Eagan 22, Forest Lake 21 Roseville (3-3) at White Bear Lake (1-5), 7 p.m. White Bear Lake deserved its breakthrough last week against Stillwater after a number of near misses this fall. The Bears have a chance to build some real momentum rolling into the postseason. Roseville, meanwhile, aims to build upon what has been an excellent season. Riding the legs of star running back Javon Minor, the Raiders are seeking win No. 4, a massive feat considering they had won three games combined over the previous five seasons. The winner of this one likely nets a No. 6 seed in the Class 6A bracket, while the loser should be a No. 7 seed. OUR PICK: White Bear Lake 28, Roseville 20 WISCONSIN Prescott (7-0) at Baldwin-Woodville (6-1), 7 p.m. The winner of this game will be guaranteed at least a share of the Middle Border Conference championship. It would be Baldwin-Woodville’s first title since 2019. It would be Prescott’s first Middle Border championship since, well, ever. Baldwin-Woodville figures to have some success on the ground, but can it contain Prescott’s aerial attack? OUR PICK: Baldwin-Woodville 38, Prescott 35 Chippewa Falls (5-2) at Hudson (5-2), 7 p.m. Good chance either team would make the playoffs even with a 3-4 conference record, but the winner of this one clinches a postseason berth, which is important considering Hudson plays Rice Lake next week, and Chippewa Falls faces Menomonie. If either team wins out, it likely is looking at a home playoff game. OUR PICK: Hudson 35, Chippewa Falls 28
