Providence man sentenced to six years for trafficking methamphetamine

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — United States Attorney Zachary Cunha said a Providence man who participated in a conspiracy to possess and distribute large quantities of methamphetamine was sentenced to federal prison.
40-year-old Charles Bersch was charged with conspiracy to distribute and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as a charge of possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine.
Berch was arrested in May 2022 when he and three other men were under surveillance for methamphetamine trafficking.
The men and their car were searched and police found large quantities of the drug as well as $11,000 in cash.
Bersch was sentenced to 72 months of incarceration to be followed by four years of supervised release.
He was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and sentenced to serve 48 months of incarceration to be followed by three years of supervised release.
