Northern lights dazzle in RI, Mass.
Oct 10, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — If you happen to be outside, look up!
The aurora borealis are visible across Rhode Island and Massachusetts thanks to a G4 (severe) storm, according to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. The lights are expected to remain visible Thursday night into Friday.
The dazzling display is caused by the interaction between charged particles and gases in the Earth's atmosphere.
