NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) -- A new study from a commercial real estate agency shows a proposed casino in New Haven would generate millions in tax dollars and thousands of jobs in the area. The proposed casino would be located on the corner of Doyle and Harper roads and will cost $500 million across two phases. Full House Resorts unveils location of proposed New Haven casino The study, commissioned by Full House Resorts and conducted by CBRE, claims the casino's first phase is projected to generate more than $80 million in taxes each year for the following groups: $53.5 million for the State of Indiana $18.3 million for the City of New Haven $11.1 million for other local stakeholders such as Allen County and East Allen County Schools Each phase is expected to garner more than 2,700 construction jobs. The first phase would also bring in 2,426 operating jobs in the area, more than half of which would work at the casino and entertainment resort, according to the report. The study noted New Haven is "isolated" from other casinos and that being near a notable highway would draw in out-of-town guests. Sand Strategies, the PR firm hired by Full House Resorts, told WANE 15 that CBRE was hired to do the study because they are a "nationally recognized advisory firm providing independent studies." Sand declined to reveal how much CBRE was paid for the study. Would a New Haven casino cause crime? Addiction? Since plans to possibly bring a casino to New Haven were first announced, some Allen County residents have opposed the idea due to moral issues and claims that it would increase crime. “We have better to offer than to build our economy and our culture on degeneracy,” said one community member during a New Haven City Council meeting Sept. 24. Full House Resorts currently own Rising Star Casino along the Ohio River in southern Indiana. The full study from CBRE can be viewed below: CBRE-Economic-Impact-StudyDownload
