BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Louisiana contractor accused of fraudulent activities was arrested and issued a cease-and-desist order. Zechariah "Zack" Moore, a field representative of Roofing Guys LLC based out of Lafayette, was arrested by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. He's charged with the felony offense of damage to property with intent to defraud. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple also issued Moore and Roofing Guys LLC a cease-and-desist order on Oct. 1. According to a news release, they have 30 days to request an administrative appeal, or the action will become final. Temple stated he issued the order after "Deeming that Moore, and the Roofing Guys LLC violated Louisiana insurance laws and posed a danger to public health, safety and welfare." Louisiana nursing home owner Bob Dean agrees to pay $8.2M after violating federal housing act Moore is accused of having deliberately damaged the homeowners' roof during a "'cold call" roof inspection, misreporting the cause of the damage to the home and advising them to file a storm damage claim with the insurer, according to a news release. He is also accused of improperly telling the homeowners "they would be able to get a new roof for only the cost of their deductible." The homeowners filed a police report against Moore for causing damage to their roof, according to a news release. “Our high rates of property insurance are made worse when insurance companies pay claims for manmade damage caused by bad actors,” said Temple. “And our citizens suffer from losing trust in the individuals they need to help put their homes and lives back in order.” Latest News Tampa sees 5x the usual October rainfall due to Hurricane Milton New poll in EBR mayor-president race shows Weston Broome ahead, James outpacing in spending State leaders work to improve rural parts of Louisiana through multi-million-dollar grant Internet Archive data breach exposes more than 31 million user accounts: reports Byron leads NASCAR Cup playoffs as series shifts to Charlotte
