BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Police confirmed a second person has died in an alleged drunken driving crash that happened last month on East Truxtun Avenue. Both victims were in a car parked on the north curb of the 1200 block of East Truxtun Avenue on the night of Sept. 28. A Dodge Durango slammed into the back of the car, police said. The Dodge's driver, Martin Alameda Sanchez, 25, has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury and driving without a license or insurance. The District Attorney's Office has filed a motion to amend the complaint against Sanchez by adding charges in connection with the second death. Prosecutors are seeking to add a second count of murder and second count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Police say records show Sanchez has never been issued a driver’s license. He's being held without bail. An hour after the 11:14 p.m. crash, Sanchez gave breath samples registering his blood-alcohol content as 0.257 and 0.262%, according to court documents. The legal driving limit is 0.08%. Sanchez told police he drank a 12-pack of Modelo 12-ounce cans before getting behind the wheel, according to the documents. He said he was arrested in Oakland last year on suspicion of drunken driving, and knows it's dangerous.
