BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- An overnight closure is planned for the intersection of Panama Lane and New Stine Road for pavement repairs beginning Friday, according to city officials. The intersection will close at 9 p.m. on Oct. 11, as crews grind and pave the area. The intersection will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday. The intermittent closures will be ongoing until Dec. 27. ‘The Geography of Hope’ features chapter on Bakersfield City Council 2022 redistricting efforts A detour will be available and flaggers will be in the area to allow traffic motorists access businesses and residences in the area. While the project is scheduled to last two-and-a-half months, it will bring much-needed improvements to one of south Bakersfield's busiest roads. Never miss a story: Make KGET.com your homepage Work crews will be installing thermoplastic and green methyl methacrylate striping and lane markings, sidewalk access ramps at intersections, and adjusting existing manholes and water valves. Other features include new median nose and drainage cuts and the adjustment of monument encasements. With the construction project, comes traffic delays. City officials say to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of travel time ahead of your commute.
