BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A book focusing on people looking to change the world, dedicates one of nine chapters to Bakersfield's history of redrawing boundaries for the Bakersfield City Council. A panel of discussion took place at the Walter Stiern Library at Cal State University Bakersfield with David Yarnold, the author of, "The Geography of Hope: Real-Life Stories of Optimists Mapping a Better World." One of the chapters in the book is dedicated to the aftermath of the city's 2022 redistricting efforts. Never miss a story: Make KGET.com your homepage "Bakersfield's story is about a community coming together to create change and the unity map was a symbol of their ability to agree on a better future, and it meant a lot to me that people put their trust in me to tell me their stories and to be able to come back today and to celebrate that and to talk about what's happened in the aftermath of the redistricting is just a really deeply moving thing for me," Yarnold said.
