14-Year-Old Boy Killed in Pedestrian vs Car Accident near Maraslis Avenue DALLAS, TX (October 10, 2024) – Jonathan Ayala was fatally struck Friday morning, and James Grant was arrested after a pedestrian collision on East Ledbetter Drive. The incident happened around 8:00 a.m., near Marsalis Avenue on September 6th. Dallas Police report that Grant was a passenger in a vehicle heading south when he got into an altercation with the female driver. During the assault, the vehicle swerved east onto Ledbetter Drive, where it struck Ayala, who was walking through a grassy area on his way to Boude Storey Middle School. After the collision, Grant fled the scene while the driver contacted 911. Police later found 47-year-old Grant at a nearby bus stop, arresting him and charging him with felony murder.
