The university also added that conduct actions will be taken for any AU community member involved in this incident as well as possible applicable criminal charges. Alger said this in a message to the AU community: Expressing and advocating for deeply held beliefs is a core element of who we are as individuals and as a community. But when that advocacy becomes destructive, when it is expressed through behavior that violates our policies, laws, and values, it hurts our community. It creates distrust and discord when we are seeking to build connection and common bonds. Even on the most polarizing of issues on which members of the university community might disagree vigorously, engagement must be constructive and lawful.Glover Gate is both the front door to our university and a symbol for the AU community. It welcomes students when they first arrive on campus and is the site of countless graduation photos and cherished memories. We are cleaning and restoring Glover Gate, and it will continue to serve and inspire our community.
