Weather forecast: Slow clearing ahead of the potential Aurora Borealis tonight
Oct 10, 2024
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Surface high pressure pushes toward New York State today and skies will slowly clear out throughout the day. We hover in the 40s and 50s. This will lead us into the best day of the week on Friday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures getting a nice boost with a southwest flow; highs into the upper 60s.

Another front approaches quickly from the north, increasing wind speed. Not much of a rain chance here though as the front will focus most of its energy through the north country. The front moves through overnight into early Saturday.

Outside of a sprinkle Saturday morning, skies quickly turn sunny and it's a decent day. A sweeping trough from the northwest Sunday will bring back rain chances. This will also push temperatures down with highs in the lower 50s by Monday and Tuesday. Both days could have a few scattered lake-effect rain showers throughout the day, but it's mixed in with sunshine. Skies clear out to finish the week.
