TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas transportation officials will be closing part of I-70 in the Topeka area this weekend to complete patching work on the Polk-Quincy Viaduct. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will be closing westbound I-70 in downtown Topeka at 11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 through to midnight on Sunday, Oct. 13 starting at 10th Avenue and running to Topeka Boulevard and the Adams Street on-ramp. The 10th Avenue exit will be the last one open for people driving west on the highway. Drivers on I-70 will be directed to signed detour routes south to I-470 or north to K04 to U.S. 24 and on to U.S. 75. People can also use a local street detour on 10th Avenue and Topeka Boulevard to the First Street I-70 on-ramp. More closures on I-70 may come in the future if additional patching work is needed on the viaduct. For more Kansas news, click here.
