Central NY scooter rider in critical condition after being hit by car, troopers say

Village of Parish, N.Y. — A scooter rider is in critical condition after being hit by a car on Monday in Oswego County, troopers said.Matthew J. Lavaway, 35, of Parish, was riding a scooter west on Route 69 in the Village of Parish around 7:02 p.m. when he was hit by a car, Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for the State Police, said on Thursday. The scooter appears to have been non-electric, she said.
