WASHTINGTON, D.C. (WLNE) — A Swansea man has been convicted for his actions at the U.S. Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021, according to the United States Attorney’s Office District of Columbia. Michael St. Pierre, 46, was found guilty on October 9 in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia of the felony offense of civil disorder and three misdemeanor offenses, including destruction of government property, disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and committing an act of physical violence on the Capitol grounds. St. Pierre traveled to Washington on January 6, 2021, wearing body armor and carrying a megaphone. In video posted to his Facebook page, St. Pierre filmed the Capitol building and said “That’s where the meeting ground is. Hopefully they bust through, and I’ll join them, to rush the Capitol and go grab Nancy Pelosi by the hair and f—ing twirl her around.” St. Pierre then climbed on top of a wall and traveled to the North Doors on the northern exterior wall of the building. St. Pierre gathered with other rioters, pushing forward toward outnumbered police officers, while others sprayed bear spray at officers and struck them with flag poles. As others charged and chased the officers, St. Pierre joined the crowd and cheered on the attacks through his megaphone. St. Pierre continued to shout through his megaphone as the crowd fought with police: “Come on everybody, let’s go everybody, we got to get everybody tight. We got to get tight! Let’s go guys! We are going to storm this b—ch!” St. Pierre then threw a metal flagpole top at a door window, behind which were several police officers. St. Pierre was arrested in Fall River by the FBI on July 27, 2023. He will be sentenced on March 14, 2025.   Categories: Massachusetts, News
