NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — With the presidential election less than a month away, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority has announced that it will offer free rides on election day.
RTA officials said bus, streetcar and ferry fares will be waived on two Saturdays during the early voting period and on election day.

On Oct. 19, Oct. 26 and Nov. 5, RTA riders can ride at no charge and will not have to show proof of voter registration or RTA passes.
RTA officials said the free rides during election periods come as part of "the agency’s commitment to transit equity, including waiving fares on the birthdays of Civil Rights icons Rosa Parks (Feb. 4) and Claudette Colvin (Sept. 5), respectively."
