ANDERSON, Ind. — An Anderson man has been charged with a felony after a 14-year-old girl said he groped her at a child's birthday party. Alejandro E. Acosta, 42, was arrested Thursday and booked into the Madison County Jail on one count of sexual misconduct with a minor - a level 5 felony. The charge stems from a reported groping incident over the summer at a child's birthday party. Alejandro Acosta (via MCSO) Anderson police were contacted on July 14 with a sexual misconduct report from a 14-year-old girl who'd attended a birthday party with Acosta the day before. The child told officers that Acosta groped her butt and breasts over her clothes multiple times while at the party. The victim said at one point Acosta tried to slide his hands up her shirt, but stopped when someone walked by the room they were in. Court docs state the victim was also forced to inappropriately touch Acosta. The 14-year-old was reportedly able to identify Acosta out of a photo array as the suspect and told investigators that she remembered his name was Alejandro. After gathering more evidence while executing a search warrant, police filed a probable cause affidavit charging Alejandro with minor sexual misconduct. He has since been arrested and booked into jail. No bond has been set for his release. Online court records show that Alejandro made an initial appearance in Madison Circuit Court 1 around 1 p.m. Thursday. A jury trial has not yet been scheduled in his case.
