MEQUON, Wis. (WFRV) — A portion of Interstate 43 was closed Wednesday after a 21-year-old Wisconsin man allegedly fired a shot at another vehicle during what authorities are calling a road rage incident. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting on I-43, north of North Port Washington Road, in the city of Mequon on Oct. 9, 2024. Solina USA to close Wisconsin plant, lay off 88 workers According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was driving north in the left lane of I-43 when a vehicle in the right lane fired a single shot into the victim's car. The bullet struck the front passenger-side door, traveled through it, entered the front passenger compartment, and came to rest on the center console near the gear shifter. Only the driver occupied the victim's vehicle, and no injuries were reported. Witnesses said the two vehicles had been involved in a road rage incident before the shooting. Authorities identified the suspect as Cam'ron Bardney, 21, of Milwaukee. Bardney was located, and a traffic stop was conducted in a business parking lot on North Port Washington Road. Bardney was arrested and charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, discharging a firearm from a vehicle on a highway, and possession of THC, his second offense. A gun was found in the center console of the vehicle.
