WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - As Hurricane Milton moves out of Florida the cleanup begins.  It’s one of two major hurricanes that hit the Southeast in the last month. Before the storm the White House said officials staged more than 10,000 active-duty personnel, Coast Guard and FEMA responders in Florida. The force of Milton and the storm surge caused flooding in Sarasota and reverse storm surge emptied Tampa Bay. The winds from the hurricane were so strong they damaged the roof of Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Vice Admiral Pete Gautier from the U.S. Coast Guard says his teams will survey the damage. “We’re going to get a pretty quick evaluation,” said Gautier. He expects a lot of people will need help after this storm. At the White House on Wednesday evening President Joe Biden said federal officials were at the ready with military help.  He says the FEMA director is already managing the cleanup from Hurricane Helene and now Milton in Florida. “To the people of Florida and all the impacted states: we've got your back. We've got your back,” said Biden. The president also criticized former president Donald Trump for spreading false information about Helene, Milton and the federal government's recovery operations. “It's un-American. Un-American. It's not who the hell we are,” said Biden. Trump continued his attacks at a rally in Pennsylvania. “This administration has not done a proper job at all,” said Trump. Search and rescue efforts began before the storm left Florida.  FEMA says they've brought in 400 ambulances and 20 helicopters. After the storm passes, they expect days of power outages.
