Discussion:
Hurricane Milton is currently over Central Florida — about 40 miles ESE of Orlando. It made landfall last night around 8:30pm over Siesta Key, FL. Milton continues to produce heavy rain with an ongoing Flash Flood Emergency in effect for Central Florida. Significant storm surge, gusty wind and isolated tornado threat continues today for Florida, before milton moves off the coast later this morning.
Locally, we will see the wind pick up thanks in part to Milton with winds gusting 20-30 mph through the afternoon. Winds will die down as Milton moves further into the Atlantic. Highs will be cooler as well with temps topping out in the low 70s. Overnight lows will fall into the 30s and 40s overnight — the chilliest night we have had since the spring. Temps will remain cool in the low 70s Friday, before warming back up towards 80 this weekend. Sunny and dry conditions persist through Sunday as well. A cold front will drop through the region Monday. This will bring spotty shower chances to the area, with a blast of cool air to follow. Highs won’t get out of the 60s Tuesday with overnight lows once again dipping into the 30s and 40s across the region.
