Vintage Land, home of the Los Feliz Flea market,  will be installing three new pickleball courts on the rooftop of their Vintage Land building located at 1030 Alpine St., which will be open seven days a week.  Angel City Pickleball will offer outdoor turf courts with Downtown L.A. views. Memberships are $50 a month and the courts will be open seven days a week, including during flea market hours on Saturdays.  book your court here. More than  15 farms, ranches, and agricultural organizations will open their doors to the public for the 12th Annual Ventura County Farm Day on  Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.   Choose a location by visiting the  Farm Day Trail Map and travel at your own pace from site to site. The day consists of behind-the-scenes tours, tastings, giveaways and kid-friendly activities. Los Feliz Flea Market (Wolf Kroeger) Widespread farming in Ventura County dates back to the 1780s and agriculture is still one of the largest industries in the county with crop values in 2023 totaling more than  $2.1 billion. Participants in Farm Day this year include the Agriculture Museum of Ventura County, Agromin (organic compost, mulch), Alpacas At Windy Hills (Alpaca fleece), Duda Farm Fresh Foods (celery and lettuce), Eden Forest Collective (agroforestry), Good Farms (berries), Growing Works (fresh flowers), McGrath Family Farm (organic farming), Ojai Olive Oil (olives), Oxnard Historic Farm Park, Petty Ranch (fruits and vegetables), Prancer’s Farm (strawberries, tomatoes, avocados), Ranchos Camulos National Historic Landmark Museum, UC Hansen Agricultural Research and Extension Center, VCAA Senior Nutrition Farm and Ventura County. Food writer Khushbu Shah and  L.A. pastry chef   Valerie Gordon will host an Indian High Tea on Saturday, Oct.  19 at   Valerie Confections to celebrate the recent release of Shah’s debut cookbook, AMRIKAN: 125 Recipes from the Indian American Diaspora.  Hosted in the garden at Valerie Confections Glendale location, the tea will be inspired by recipes from AMRIKAN, including dishes like Dad’s Adu Ka Jaddu Masala Chai, Chutney Tea Sandwiches, Crispy Paneer Sandwiches, Masala Deviled Eggs, Mango Pielette, Masala Chai Basque Cheesecake and Jaggery & Fennel Rice Krispie Treats. Tickets are $125 per person, which includes the tea and a copy of AMRIKAN. All tickets can be purchased here.  On Wednesday, Oct. 16, James Beard Award-winning chef Suzanne Goin and restaurateur Caroline Styne welcome Daisy Ryan of Michelin Starred Bell’s to Caldo Verde for another installment of their popular cookbook series.   Chef Daisy Ryan (Bonjwing Lee) Alongside Chef Ryan, Goin and the Caldo Verde team will prepare a five-course tasting menu showcasing their take on highlights from three cookbooks pivotal to Chef Daisy’s culinary journey, My Mexico by Diana Kennedy, The River Cafe Cookbook by Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray, and Bistro Cooking by Patricia Wells. To pair with the meal, Caldo Verde will feature Bell’s Classic Gin Martini as well as a collaborative drink with Daisy Tabares, Caldo Verde’s Head Bartender. Angela Osborne of ATribute to Grace Wine Company will also be in attendance, featuring a special optional wine pairing as well as bottles of her wine for purchase.  At $100/person++ the tasting menu will showcase Goin’s and Ryan’s take on recipes from the three cookbooks. Taste of Soul, the largest one-day free street festival in Los Angeles, will be coming back for a 19th year to Crenshaw Blvd., attracting more than  500K people to the event on Saturday, Oct. 19. There will be no less than  150 various food offerings celebrating diverse cultures and traditions and all that is soulful, plus live music spanning genres such as Gospel, R&B, Jazz and Dance. There will also be social and healthcare resources on hand dedicated to improving the community and educating attendees on programs and initiatives designed to better their lives. Popular pizzeria LaSorted will open its  new second shop in Chinatown on Saturday, Oct. 12. And will feature all of LaSorted’s signature  pizzas, which can be ordered whole or by the slice, like the Kobe Bryant-inspired Mamba ( cheese pizza topped with a three-cheese blend, sauce, garlic-oil crust), the Spicy, But Oh So Sweet Boy (sauce, pepperoni, salami, Fresno chiles, garlic, Mike’s Hot Honey, Calabrian chili); and The Ina – a nod to Ina Garten (vodka sauce, mozzarella, provolone, pecorino, basil).  What’s Popping Up is a column in the L.A.
