HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - State inspectors have seized illegal hemp products that were being sold at two stores in Hanford. According to an announcement by the state's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) on Wednesday, a statewide sweep of over 380 stores licensed by the ABC was done this past weekend to find out if they were selling prohibited items. New rules published on Sept. 24 prohibit the marketing, offering for sale, or sale of industrial hemp products intended for human use. That includes food, drinks, and dietary supplements that contain a detectable level of total THC or other intoxicating cannabinoids. The two stores in Hanford found to be in violation of the new regulations were Grangeville Liquor and Jack's Gas. "Agents visited nearly 400 licensed establishments across California and 97% were in compliance with the new regulations," said ABC Director Joseph McCullough. "While these numbers are promising, 100 percent compliance is our goal." In total, over 700 illegal products were seized from several licensees.
