SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The owners Pop Pie Co. are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the person who broke into their business Tuesday night in University Heights, the same day the team celebrated their eight-year anniversary. Newly obtained surveillance video shows the moment a person dressed in black uses bolt cutters to open a lock box. It happened 11:30 p.m. just outside the business located off Park Blvd. They then used the key to enter through the front door. Co-founder and CEO Steven Torres said he was home when he got the call. "Someone from our team was there right around midnight already working with San Diego Police Department to see what happened," Torres said. One of Torres' team members stayed for several hours into the morning to ensure the shop’s safety.  Overturned tanker truck spills gasoline in East County “This is what we work so hard for and then to have somebody just violate it that way, it's a little concerning. We just got to look at all the positives and all the good stuff that happened," according to Torres. It’s not the first time the business has been broken into, but this most recent time, there was no damage and only a tip jar was stolen. Torres said this is why they don’t accept cash. “Any chance that we’re putting our team in harm’s way by accepting cash or our business in general, you know we’re going to take those measures," Torres explained. For now, it’s business as usual and the owners plan to file a police report.  “We’ll be in contact with them to see if we can find who did this and keep them from doing this to somebody else," Torres said. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call SDPD.
